FISHERMAN'S WHARF

Situated on a 3-acre land along the coastal area fronting the South China Sea, the project involves redevelopment of existing “rather-primitive” wharf, with objective to create a better and adequate facilities c/w wider jetty for loading/unloading circulation, fish handling and storage area, boat maintenance and repair workshop, fishing equipment and accessories retail, etc.

The design aims to enliven people’s memory to the olden days when Bintulu was just a humble and small fishing village through metaphoric architecture of fish skeleton concept for the new Market. This new market typology allowing people to experience the traditional market culture in a modern approach and set a new landmark within its vicinity as a potential tourist spot.
