Scope: Design Concept
The Project’s architectural design started with a rethinking of the intended use and of some previous instances of shop-house/shop-office/shop-hotel typology. The facade system consists of several plans that articulate the building in a lighter, more streamlined and less monolithic as compared to conventional typology. It is composed of frame and infill, either glass, aluminium perforated panel or expanded metal, which are purposely arranged in disordered pattern. The use of dark colours for the deeper level (walls and frames) and of light and brilliant colours for the infills will allow a sensation of deepness and a iridescence to the facade of the building depending on light conditions.
